STEAM Education
Students are entering a future with enormous challenges where collaboration, interdisciplinary thinking, and creative problem solving are crucial to creating a livable planet and equitable world.
We provide a powerful hands-on learning experience that is salient and memorable. Our methods have proven their success with students in grades from pre-school through graduate schools, urban and remote locations, in the US, Panama, and Hong Kong.
Learning Objectives
Interdisciplinary learning
Experiential, Project-based learning
Creative problem solving
Sustainability Education & Culture
Systems Thinking
Leadership skills
Outcomes
Environmental leaders
Collaboration and team experience
Exposure to Engineering and Science
Art and Design in practice
Multiple learning styles served
Engaged students
“…students learn to organize themselves to find plausible solutions using limited materials within a short time. Participants discover and practice their skills to work within “real-world” constraints to create effective designs solving complex problems. They are learning the cooperation and adaptability required to be effective contributors to 21st century society.”

Our Methodology
We consult with universities and schools to embed sustainability, leadership, and innovation into their curriculum and co-curricular programs. Our experiential methodology integrates disciplines and teaches students how to find their own solutions. Teacher trainings offer a way to scale up cost-effectively.
Sample schools we have worked with:
Sample Schools
Broward School District
Newton South High School
New Bedford High School
Hong Kong public and private schools
Harvard Business School
Olin College
Emerson College
Cornell University Graduate School of Management
Boston College
STEAM Integration
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math
Our STEAM methodology can be used as existing curriculum or new content. Teacher trainings and kits allow our project-based learning and participatory public art/science projects to be easily integrated into existing curriculum or used as new content.
Thanks to the Boston Foundation for Architecture for their generous support in developing our our K-12 lesson plans and teacher training materials.
Our Unique Approach
The sculpture project “…motivated students to work to their fullest potential… [and] brought the class to a new level of understanding and performance… I have been marveling at the students’ engagement and excitement, the quality of their technical and artistic ideas…”
Innovation & Collaboration
We use the design process to teach students how to innovate in any discipline. Collaboration, curiosity, ingenuity, and initiative are core values. Students learn how to identify their problem, work with others to seek information and then create original, thoughtful, solutions.
Art & Design
The iterative and open-ended process of art and design cultivate perseverance and flexible thinking. Working in sketch models provides the experience of thinking visually and spatially, and art incorporates metaphor, story, form, and results in divergent thinking.
Integrating art into engineering projects and across disciplines leads to innovative solutions to societal problems, like communicating sea level rise and invisible air pollution.
